Restaurant: Taxco Type: Mexican Prices: Mexican 14,000 to 23,000, Pasta 15,000-17,000, Drinks 2,000-11,000 (menu pictured below) *Editor's Note: Korean spelling is타스코 according to Naver Search, "Tasco" in English Taxco: A Refreshingly Authentic Take on Mexican Food Taxco, a new Mexican restaurant is Sannamdong, serves up outstanding Mexican food in large portions, making it the new go-to spot for Mexican food in Cheongju! This bold new addition to Sannam-dong's pub street is modern and cozy, seating only 4 people at a table, so don’t show up with five people expecting to share a space. While the prices may look a bit on the expensive end, the serving sizes are ample, best suited for two. Each main dish comes with a set of appetizers. First, nacos with a side of, what appears to be, mayo. This is a bit of an odd choice since they have salsa on hand. Next, a green salad and two eggs on a hot plate which is a good start to the meal. At 23,000 won the chicken fajitas may appear pricey, but portions are large. The chicken is covered in a cheese sauce and served with shredded lettuce and spicy onion tomato salsa that has a nice kick to it. Fill the four flour tortillas with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. Extras are free and served expediently. At 14,000 won, the shrimp tacos are not only my favorite dish, but also the cheapest (and worth picturing twice in this article)! Each order has four tacos with lightly breaded shrimp with shredded lettuce, complimented by a light sweet-spicy sauce, finely grated cheese with diced red peppers. It is delicious! For some variety, you can order half of the tacos chicken and the other half shrimp. Beverage selection includes standards; soda, cream beer, etc. But for 7,000 won, you can get an in-house made sangria that is quite tasty and compliments the food perfectly. Give it a shot! -Joe Brailey Location – End of the bar street in Sannamdong, near the frog conservatory. http://map.naver.com/local/siteview.nhn?code=37026509 충청북도 청주시 서원구 산남동 592 미소시티블루2 1층 109호 043-285-5040 Open – Monday to Saturday, open 6:30 p.m. to an unspecified time, probably depending on customers.
