Tasty Tuesdays:  Mad For Garlic (G-Well City)

Hidden beneath the CGV by G-Well city is a terrific Italian steakhouse. Both the food and the restaurant have an authentic western feel that can be hard to find. Their elegant décor is fit for any special occasion or just getting a bite before a movie. They have a solid menu that offers something for everyone, even the very bold of tongue. They don’t have the lowest prices in town, but the quality is worth it

Garlic Alligator

This is a small round loaf of bread cut down to the base. It kinda resembles the back of some form of reptile, like a crocodile. They add three kinds of cheese and garlic butter before lightly toasting it. The cheese pools up at the bottom, ripping the bits out produces a lovely bite-sized, cheesy garlic bread. It’s served with a paprika aioli that is a bit tart and strikingly fresh. The creaminess takes most of the spice out of the paprika except for a slight aftertaste, it doesn’t get too intense for those who are not big paprika fans. Overall, a nice sized starter for two or more that won’t fill you up for the main course.
If you want your starters before, not at the same time, as the main course, be sure to say so! (I know, I know.)

Cobb Salad

If you are anything like me, you love a good cobb salad. It has various greens; diced eggs, cucumber, and tomatoes; chopped bacon and chicken; red onion slivers and cheddar cheese cubes. The dressing is a vinaigrette with a bit of a zip to it. This is not a huge salad, but the quality is tough to beat.
One of my favorite things about the Cobb salad is that they mix it with the dressing at the table. This ensures that the vinaigrette doesn’t water log the greens before you finish eating, maintaining the freshness for more than enough time to polish it off.

Herb Rib-eye Steak with Cheese Gratin

This is a piece of top-notch rib-eye served with potato cheese gratin, seasoned green beans on a bed of sauteed white onions. It is seasoned with fresh rosemary, a dried basil leaf and thinly sliced garlic and topped with, surprisingly, a bunch of roasted garlic. I hope you like garlic.
It comes in a hot pan which, while keeping the steak nice and warm, also continues to cook it after it arrives at your table. It’s not a terrible idea to order it a bit less cooked than
you want it to end up. It’ll cook an extra shade quickly.
Having said that, this is my go to steak possibly in the whole city.

Garlic for You Steak

Not for the feint of heart. Frankly, this part is a bit of a cautionary tale. This steak is stuffed with garlic preserves and hunan peppers, whole hunan peppers. The menu fails to mention the hunan peppers. They lack the subtlety normally associated with secret ingredients, so heads up.
The garlic preserve is to regular garlic what hunan peppers are to jalapenos. Really potent stuff.
It is served with a special Mad for Garlic sauce. It is creamy and contains... garlic.
If you are legitimately crazy about garlic, or something to that affect, and hunan peppers, this is gonna be your favorite steak ever. If not, don’t order it!
