Buzz Retro Party

This Saturday, Buzz Bar’s Retro Party features music and attire from the 1980s through the 2000s.  Come dressed in your favorite outfits and fads from those decades. There will be a contest for the best dressed: 1st prize is a bottle of Jäger, 2nd prize is a bottle of Jose Cuervo, and 3rd prize is a glass of water! No official start time… so show up whenever after 8pm or so.

Acoustic Show: Lewis Quinn Whelan

Cheongju’s own tattoo artist and musician extraordinaire will be performing an acoustic set at 9pm this Saturday.  Lewis will be playing mainly originals (his own blend of folk/country/acoustic rock with an Irish twist) and some Tom Waits covers.

He’ll be at Golmokdabang, a cool little coffee bar in shinae. To get there, if you start from around McDonald’s, cross the main street and turn left in front of the Ebisu Hair, then take the first right into a small alley. The bar’s on your left.

Hanchung Culture Festival

This festival/competition takes place this Saturday downtown next to Mushim-cheon (the river), in the skating, biking, skateboarding area. Elementary, middle, and high school students will show off their talents in writing, drawing, singing, and dancing throughout the day. Starting at 7:00pm, there will be performances by the girl group Swi-T, singer Ji Won-ee, dance group Beat On Pop, and last year’s singing group and dance group winners. There should be a wide variety of performance styles, from traditional Korean to modern K-pop.
