NANTA (Nov 27~29)/CJB Media Center in Sannam-dong) International Chopsticks Festival (daily through December 17/Cheongju Historic Museum of Baekje) Click “Read More” to see more information for these events. NANTA If you have never before experienced the fun of a NANTA performance, do yourself a favor, and catch a show while it is touring in Cheongju… this weekend only! NANTA is best described as a mixture of Stomp and cooking. It is a nonverbal performance, so even those who don’t understand Korean can enjoy and follow it. There is a loose storyline, but lots of music, drumming, chopping, flying food, and physical comedy. There is even a chance for audience participation in some parts. Performances are in the CJB Media Center (CJB미디어센터) in Sannam-dong. There are 4 shows this weekend: Friday (27th) at 7:30pm, Saturday (28th) at 4:30pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday (29th) at 4:30pm. Tickets are 30,000 or 40,000 won, and can be bought in advance through Interpark or at the door. International Chopsticks Festival From November 11th through December 17th, Cheongju is hosting to a variety of events celebrating the International Chopsticks Festival. Korea, Japan, and China will be simultaneously celebrating the 2000 year anniversary of the chopsticks. The events kicked off on 11/11 (because the date looks like 4 chopsticks!). At the Cheongju Historic Museum of Baekje (청주백제유물전시관) in Shinbong-dong, there is an exhibition about chopsticks from the 3 countries that displays ornate and historically-significant chopsticks. The exhibition is from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily until December 17th.
