This Saturday, Soundgarden Bar in Chungdae will host a unique evening art show and contest, followed by a night of great bands and DJs. All proceeds from the evening will go to help Cheongju Art Club secure studio space in the future. From 5:00pm to 8:00pm, artwork by artists from Cheongju and the surrounding area will be on display. There is no cover charge and visitors can come vote for their favorite piece. During the contest, there will be a silent auction of artwork to benefit the Cheongju Art Club. Arts, crafts, and t-shirts will also be available for purchase. From 9:00pm to late night, people can enjoy live music and dance the night away. "Red Japan" from Seoul and local favorite "Stone Throwing People" will get things going. "Walking After U", an all girl Korean rock quartet, will take the stage at 10:30. DJs Norbert, JR Cub, and Goodbye Ronald will make sure guests will be dancing into the wee hours of the morning. As an added treat, special guests Ursula and Lewis from Mega Tattoo will be there for the late night fun offering henna tattoos. Come be a part of Cheongju art history! International Chopsticks FestivalFrom November 11th through December 17th, Cheongju will play host to a variety of events celebrating the International Chopsticks Festival. Korea, Japan, and China will be simultaneously celebrating the 2000 year anniversary of the chopsticks. The events kicked off on 11/11 (because the date looks like 4 chopsticks!) with a few children’s events. At the Cheongju Historic Museum of Baekje (청주백제유물전시관) in Shinbong-dong, there will be various activities you can participate in. From now until Sunday, you can make different styles of traditional chopsticks, as well as spoon-making, drawing, and trying out various chopsticks. There is also an exhibition at the museum about chopsticks from the 3 countries that displays ornate and historically-significant chopsticks. The exhibition is from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily until December 17th. Bingo NightThis Saturday night at 11pm at The Bugle (Pearl Jam), come try your luck in a game of 90 Ball Bingo.
