What's On This Weekend?

2/5/2016

Most of us should have a 5-day weekend due to the Lunar New Year! It is one of the two big holidays in Korea, so many businesses are closed.  The main day of the holiday is Monday (Feb 8th), but places could also be closed on Sunday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday.

If you are traveling during the long weekend, remember that traffic can get crazy and your trip could take a lot longer than normal.

Will the bars in Chungdae be closed for the holiday?
Fear not, citizens. MJs, Buzz, Road King, and The Bugle (Pearl Jam) will all be open every day during the holiday.

Special Events

Mi Na Ne Grand Opening
This Saturday (Feb. 6th), come to the opening of the newest bar in Chungdae—Mi Na Ne!  It’s a beach-themed bar that serves tacos, and for the opening night, everyone gets a free drink.  There will be music and a DJ playing hip-hop and reggae. The opening event starts at 7pm.  Mi Na Ne is located a block behind The Bugle (Pearl Jam), on the 2nd floor above the CU.

Road King Lunar New Year Event
On Saturday (Feb 6th) and Monday (Feb 8th), there will be special events at Road King for the Lunar New Year holiday. On both nights, there will be competitions in “yutnori” (Korean traditional game played by tossing 4 sticks) and “jegi” (Korean traditional game like hackeysack).  For the yutnori challenge, you need a team of 4 people who put in 5,000won each, and the winning team takes all the money.   For the jegi challenge, the person who gets the highest score before midnight wins a bottle of whiskey.  Also, if you wear a hanbok to Road King on Monday, you will get a free bottle of beer!
